These three paintings are from the “Shared Spaces” series that I began in the mid-nineties. There’s many psychological and intimate portraits in that collection, people I know, couples, pairs. It’s mostly drawings, but the origin of this series were these several figurative works painted exclusively in “Pthalo” Blue and Ultra-Marine acrylics. The larger works are […]

5 Gods Wrestle with Existence
This painting entitled “5 Gods Wrestle with Existence” (1992) is part of a series of works focused on Religion and the True Nature of Man. This image is set like a stage, with Jerusalem in the center, and it is about the nature of love and desire for human connectivity in a time of spiritual discovery and religious conflict. […]
Mexican Photographer Protests Killings with Nudes
Mexico is a very conservative country, and the use of The Nude is a provocative statement in Mexican culture. With that in mind, Mexican photographer Édgar Olguín has published a series of photographs taken as part of a project to protest the killings of 43 Mexican student protestors last fall at the hands of a local government, who […]
Discovered: 2 Male Nude Bronzes by Michelangelo Buonarroti
A newly released study claims that 2 meter-heigh bronze statues of nude men riding panthers are by Michelangelo Buonerroti. Known ever since as the “Rothschild bronzes,” they will soon be on view at Cambridge University’s Fitzwilliam Museum. If this is correct, they will be the only known surviving bronze works by Michelangelo.

Figure Drawing with the iPad
I have been drawing all my life, and I still jump at the chance to draw from a live model. Like many practitioners of “Life Drawing”, over the years I have collected a broad set of tools and techniques for capturing that moment on paper. And for most of my life, soft-leaded pencils and textured paper […]

One of our favorite models in a series of flat reclining poses.
