Cassandra is a well-known actress/dancer/model here in New York City, and we were thrilled to have her posing for us at TheGreatNude’s weekend-long event at Contemporary Art Fair NYC, which was held at the Jacob Javits Center this last November, 2011. Serendipitously, Cassandra also happened to be one of our exhibiting artist’s models (Daniel Maidman) […]

Tiana on Persian Rug
Here’s a great set of reference photos featuring a trim model with etherial qualities striking a series of “floating” poses. One can almost imagine this model as an angel or a figure in one of the Pre-Rafaelites’ paintings. Let us see your work!
Carisha by the Railroad Tracks
Carisha is a tall, blonde, wholesome, athletic model who is playful with her poses. Here, she uses these railroad tracks as her props. All are wonderful references for drawing the Nude.

Sketch Sessions with Athletic Asian Model

Here are some silhouette photos from a live Sketch Event presented by the Zoppa Brothers. Below are sketches produced by artist/publisher Jeffrey Wiener.
Vincent Desiderio at Marlborough Gallery
This is a wonderful, cinematic exhibition of new paintings from Vincent Desiderio, at Marlborough Gallery. There are several powerful, large paintings filled with provocative, if not passionately rendered figures. In spite of a frigid January evening, I joined an exuberant crowd for the opening of Vincent Desiderio’s exhibition of new works at Marlborough Gallery on 57th […]

Artist Statement: To me art is a very personal thing. It’s all about visual communication between the artist and the viewer. If a piece of art moves you and speaks to you it is a great painting no matter the medium or style. If it makes you want to take it into your life and […]

Artist Statement: Out of a dynamic and fluid background, I create a figure captured in a single moment of time. My most expressive works are those of my love. Our love is always evolving, each painting is an expression of our love at a particular moment. Biography: Born in 1960 in Montreal, L’OR discovered the pleasure of […]

Artist Statement: The study of classical art and literature has always been an integral part of my life. The Mediterranean culture still emerges as a reference in my visual works, yet with a clear contemporary sensitivity. Journalist and writer Marco Mathieu captured its essence as “Timeless. On the contrary, inside time. And beyond… Significant. Blunt. […]

Artist Statement: All my work is based on the human figure, almost always using the live model. Critic Anne Albert recently wrote, “Clyatt’s work appropriates classical figure sculpting methods and forms, yet through the use of postmodern and contemporary tropes it subverts the all-too-familiar prejudices against the figure generally and the nude in particular.” All […]

Artist Statement: My goal as an artist is to instill in another the beauty I find in life; whether it be through color, texture or line. I hope that those who interact with my work feel a part of me and my artistic vision. Biography: The arts have always been a part of my life. […]

Artist Statement: It would be difficult to categorize my work according to a specific genre, style, or even theme – a subject intrinsically demands its own form of artistic expression. I have found that combining different art forms allows for the creation of a more complex visual language. My starting point is usually figurative – […]

Artist Statement: The Dreamscapes Series were inspired by my travels to the Mediterranean coastal towns of Spain. I found that photographing in the impressionistic style causes the viewer to see the entire image with its palette of colors, form & light creating a mood, an emotion. My camera becomes my paintbrush, my instrument to convey […]

Artist Statement: I am captivated and drawn to the human form, the glow and spirit that comes from within. To capture this on larger than life canvases, feels to me, as an intimate and sensual merging of empathy and paint. The human presence stripped bare of pretense and accouterments is simply alive, revealing a deeply personal identity, present in […]

Artist Statement: The common thread through out my work is my fascination with the figure; it’s timeless, beautiful and powerful. Additional inspiration comes from a variety of sources ranging from the old masters to modern day advertising, graffiti and body art. My goal is to combine these elements, along with my own imagination into a […]

Artist Statement: As an Artist, I am constantly searching for ways to express my deeper observations on humanity. It’s that simple. Sometimes, I pack my largest thoughts into a complicated image. Sometimes, I focus on how beautiful we are as a species in a simple drawing of a nude figure. I have developed several “bodies” […]

Artist Statement: Always Somebody Moving. My imagery is the visual terminus of a much longer method, and perhaps its extra-visual meaning is to be found in the archeology of its making. Driven by a desire to first experience as manifest reality the symbolic content, my process starts with performances where my models and I make […]

Artist Statement: I count myself among a growing number of painters addressing the resurgent interest in the nude as motif. My approach is visceral, fluid, and direct. It is the formal character of painting that I am interested in, the composition, form and quality of color. Working from life with a wide array of media, […]
