A Celebration of Life Drawing • Sponsored by TheGreatNude.tv • Hosted by the Arts Alliance in coorporation with Town Realty • This Pop-Up Exhibit featured five fabulous Figurative Artists who presented their artworks on several floors of a Landmark Greenwich Village Mansion. Organized by TheGreatNude and curated by Jeffrey Wiener, in collaboration with the Art […]
These three paintings are from the “Shared Spaces” series that I began in the mid-nineties. There’s many psychological and intimate portraits in that collection, people I know, couples, pairs. It’s mostly drawings, but the origin of this series were these several figurative works painted exclusively in “Pthalo” Blue and Ultra-Marine acrylics. The larger works are […]
This painting entitled “5 Gods Wrestle with Existence” (1992) is part of a series of works focused on Religion and the True Nature of Man. This image is set like a stage, with Jerusalem in the center, and it is about the nature of love and desire for human connectivity in a time of spiritual discovery and religious conflict. […]
I have been drawing all my life, and I still jump at the chance to draw from a live model. Like many practitioners of “Life Drawing”, over the years I have collected a broad set of tools and techniques for capturing that moment on paper. And for most of my life, soft-leaded pencils and textured paper […]
TheGreatNude Invitational was our first major exhibition featuring 27 international artists, working in traditional and contemporary styles and mediums, all on display on 2 floors of the Roger Smith Hotel in New York City. A packed opening night reception and two nights of sketch parties provided a wonderful context to enjoy the nudes on the walls. While there […]
Artist Statement: As an Artist, I am constantly searching for ways to express my deeper observations on humanity. It’s that simple. Sometimes, I pack my largest thoughts into a complicated image. Sometimes, I focus on how beautiful we are as a species in a simple drawing of a nude figure. I have developed several “bodies” […]
I joined the staff and guests of ARTSY.net for a Sketch MeetUp. I’ve been looking for a chance to use the APP Procreate to create a video from a LIVE Life Drawing class. This is my first experience trying to keep pace with a series of 5, 10 and 20 minute poses.
Back at ARTSY’s headquarters for another Sketch MeetUp, where I can work with my favorite APP: Procreate. Tonight’s model was a lovely Italian woman named Izaskun. I created this video with several short poses and one long pose at the end.
Jeffrey Wiener, publisher of TheGreatNude.tv and an artist himself uses the APP Procreate on the iPad Air to make a movie from a Life Drawing featuring the model Jenny.

In this video, I’m drawing the male nude in a series of 10-15 minute poses. I’m using the iPad Air, the APP Procreate, and a Wacom stylus. This model is lean and sinewy. I am using a rough cross-hatch technique for a rhythmic feel on the playback of the video.
