In 2008, with the launch of TheGreatNude, we set about “recreating” famous Nudes to generate a some of our first videos. Here’s a re-release of one of our first of those videos, a Life-painting session where we attempt to recreate Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” with my guest, italian artist Giorgio Casu. This is HANDY CAM pre-HD video, and we’ve certainly improved our productions since this video. But we had a great model, and I can’t believe we fit all those people in my tiny Hell’s Kitchen studio apartment! And how about that Red Wig?

Discovered: 2 Male Nude Bronzes by Michelangelo Buonarroti
A newly released study claims that 2 meter-heigh bronze statues of nude men riding panthers are by Michelangelo Buonerroti. Known ever since as the “Rothschild bronzes,” they will soon be on view at Cambridge University’s Fitzwilliam Museum. If this is correct, they will be the only known surviving bronze works by Michelangelo.
